"I knew my affection for the Philippines was equally as telling: a democracy on paper, apparently well ordered, regularly subverted by irrational chaos. A place where I'd felt instantly at home."

Since you wanna live in the Philippines, basically you need to know their culture, tradition, events that they often celebrate and even the best foods of the country. Adjusting is a rule for survival you cannot live the best of your life if you're letting yourself to stay the same. Leaving your hometown and living into a new city allows you to let yourself grow according to the nature you're living in.
"When we allow ourselves to adapt to different situations, life is easier."
- Catherine Pulsifer
As foreign, changing your life's setup is really important when living to a new place especially in Philippines, when you're forcing things that won't work the way they used to during your stay then leave it all behind. Life is easier when you don't contradicts its flow. Trying something different isn't bad at all, it's s stage of knowing yourself more and enhancing your capabilities at the same time. Be willing to change because life won't stay the same. Never!
